We would like to celebrate and honor our nurses this week for holding our hands when we are sick and vulnerable.  For listening when we are scared and have no one to turn to.  For taking care of us when we cannot even preform our activities of daily living.  For encouraging us when we know you have nothing left to give and you still muster a smile.  For cheering us on when we take our first steps after surgery.  For your compassion when we hear a diagnosis we are not ready to hear.  For staying way past your shift to finish charting or to help one more person to the bathroom.  For the extra shifts you pick up when there is not another person to cover.  For the tears you cry when you lose a patient and still have to care for another one in the next room.  For the times we may be crabby because we are scared or hurting.  You hold us up and perform jobs that would make most people squirm.  You are heroes but even more our angels.   Thank you for all of your dedication, sacrifice long hours and compassion which was tested and needed more so than ever during this time of Covid-19.
