About Barrier Free Access, Inc.
From humble beginnings, Barrier Free Access, Inc. was created as a division of a family-owned construction company in 1991. The initial focus of the company was to provide accessibility products and services for persons with disabilities and the elderly to help them live independently. Over the years, Barrier Free Access, Inc. expanded its showroom and began working not only with consumers, but also with facilities. Today, years later, the company still offers homecare products but has also grown into a highly respected, award-winning company, distributing safe patient handling products across Minnesota, North Dakota & South Dakota. Although Barrier Free Access, Inc. has changed and grown immensely over the years, one thing that hasn’t changed is the company’s commitment to doing what is right rather than what is easy!

Jay Bunke, OHST, Director of Healthcare Ergonomics
Jay is a Liko Certified Distributor Trainer who has become an expert in safe patient handling over the past 17 years. He conducts high-energy training sessions that focus on using equipment safely and with the best interest of the patient/resident in mind. All too often, the quality and quantity of training is overlooked until the institution realizes that staff buy-in isn't as expected. This is a costly oversight! Jay’s focus on the important culture change that needs to occur is an integral part of the training. Mr. Bunke joined Barrier Free Access Inc. after years of service in the ergonomic/safety department at the Mayo Clinic. Jay has presented locally and nationally on a variety of safe patient handling related topics and is well respected in the industry. His values and passion show through in everything he does. In his free time, Jay spends a great deal of time fishing and hunting.

This level of service is unique in the industry. Tim is a Liko Certified overhead lift installer and technician. He joined Barrier Free Access, Inc. after over 15 years of employment with Unistrut International where he installed hundreds of patient lifts as a union carpenter.
